World’s theoretical
potential rises
according to a study published by the ATEE with 750 TOE/year if all
waste were treated through anaerobic digestion in discharge or
digesters – a value for which it is necessary to add the agricultural
by-products of a value of 1000 TOE/year. Overall, biogas represents a
layer comparable with the fossil natural gas worldwide consumption -
1800 TOE/year
Energy likely to be developed starting from anaerobic digestion of household waste, of industrial effluent and wastewater treatment plants sludge seems to be evaluated between 2,6 and 5 million tep/year - more than 10% of the current gas consumption.
