The
endless screws in the hoppers are used in order to transport waste in
the tanks. Several techniques of solid waste introduction are possible:

The
digester is a concrete or steel tank which can be buried or not. It is
hermetically closed, heated at 40 degrees so that anaerobic
digestion take place in optimal conditions. The most commonly used technique is the one called “completely stirred tank reactor” The mixture inside the tank is maintained homogeneous thanks to a mixing which has several functions: avoiding formation of the crust on the surface, avoiding sedimentation of the matters, facilitating degasification. In addition to the digester there can be a maturation tank which makes it possible to to stabilize the anaerobic digestion process and to recover approximately 10% additional biogas |
